Septic permits in Cole County, MO

The rules, the agency, and what happens before anyone can dig.

Requirements

Cole County (Jefferson City) permits through the Cole County Health Department, 3400 W Truman Blvd, 573-636-2181. The county ordinance is explicitly more stringent than Missouri state minimums, written for local water-resource protection. Published fees: new construction $400, lagoon with septic tank $250, repair of an existing system $150. A soil evaluation is mandatory for every new installation, and installation or repair must be performed by an installer registered with Missouri DHSS. New-construction applications require the soil evaluation, registered-installer documentation, and engineered plans where applicable.
