Requirements

Greene County (Springfield area) requires a county permit for new septic installation AND for repair or replacement of existing systems, administered by the Greene County Resource Management Environmental Division. Installers must be certified with both Greene County and Missouri DHSS. When modifying or replacing any part of an existing system, the tank must be pumped and inspected within 72 hours before construction starts. Systems over 3,000 gal/day also need Missouri DNR construction and operating permits.
