Septic permits in Tulsa County, OK

The rules, the agency, and what happens before anyone can dig.

Requirements

All new septic installations and modifications in Tulsa County require an Authorization/Permit to Construct from Oklahoma DEQ before work proceeds. A soil profile test (~$300, performed only by DEQ or DEQ-Certified Soil Profilers) is required for all lateral-line installations. Since Nov 1, 2025, non-certified individuals may install only one system per calendar year. Permits and soil tests are handled through DEQ local offices; fees adjust annually by CPI each July 1.
