Septic permits in Sevier County, TN
The rules, the agency, and what happens before anyone can dig.
Requirements
Sevier County (Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg) runs its own program through Sevier County Environmental Health, 227 Cedar Street, Sevierville, phone 865-429-1766.
Published fees: septic permit $300, repair permit $75, inspection letter $100, water sample $100, and a $100 fee if a first inspection fails and the inspector has to come back.
Applications go in online through the county's permit portal, but payment is still in person or by mail, check or cash only. The county says new applications are taking about 3 weeks, longer if the file is incomplete or the site needs more than one visit. Apply well before you need to dig. The county posts lists of licensed installers, pumpers, soil scientists, engineers and surveyors.
